It's no stretch to say that this has been one of the most frustrating and unstable console generation launches in the video game industry's history. Launching a system during a pandemic would already be hard enough on its own. But toss in a chip shortage, and you have a set of consoles that are incredibly difficult to track down and don't yet have a year's worth of games to reward that effort due to a slew of delays. Even so, both Sony and Microsoft have created powerful gaming machines that are still worthy of being excited about heading into a stacked 2022. Game after game suggests that, despite the differences in specs, the actual delivery is close to identical. Both consoles deliver a super-solid 4K@60Hz experience, and both allow for the addition of beautiful ray tracing or 120Hz action on certain games.
When it comes to cross-platform gaming, there's no winner or loser here. Yes, both consoles arrived within seven years of the last generation of console hardware. Forza Horizon 5is out now on Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC. The brand-new racing game is getting rave reviews, which, naturally, has players on other platforms wanting to get involved. But, is there a Forza Horizon 5 PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and OLED model release date coming up? Here's the lowdown on Playground Games' FH5 launching on additional console platforms in the future.
Microsoft took a conservative approach to this console generation and built a straight home console with no real gimmicks. Its biggest marketing push was the promise of Smart Delivery, which allows Xbox One owners to carry games over to Series X when they upgrade. However, that's started to feel like little more than a clever marketing spin over the past years, akin to Sega's "Blast Processing." The PS5 also supports cross-generational purchases for several of its games. It's been well over a year since the Xbox series X launched, but Microsoft's next-generation console has already built up a small library of unmissable games to choose from. Not only is a racing game like Forza Horizon 4 great to play, but these games, in general, are also perfect showcases for the skills of new consoles. They're ideal playgrounds for showing off graphical fidelity and there's nothing better for weather effects and HDR.
With features like ray-tracing coming to the PS5 it'd be exciting to see how they could be used in a title like this. But when it comes to justifying itself in other ways, the Xbox Series X suffers from some peculiar decisions on Microsoft's part. At every stage the console seems determined to convince you that it's just like the Xbox One you owned before it. That's likely a result of the company seeing Xbox as a platform designed to work across lots of different hardware, including PCs, but it feels like a misstep here.
If you've just forked out £449 ($499, AU$749) on a new games machine, you want the whole experience to feel sparkly, fresh and next-generational. Besides 4K, the solid-state drives, and other spec changes, Microsoft and Sony have pledged to support close to every title in the existing console platforms' libraries. Every Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One game currently playable on existing Xbox One hardware will be playable on the Series X / S, while Sony is supporting a "vast majority" of PS4 games, totaling more than 4,000 titles. With both consoles early into their lifespan, it's easy for many to return to older games to help fill the gap in between long wait periods for more titles to be added to each console's library.
That gives consumers unprecedented freedom in deciding where they want to play and what performance benefits are worthwhile enough to upgrade. And technologies like cross-platform play and now even cross-generation support will allow people to still play with their friends, even if they don't upgrade to the latest gaming hardware. It's hard to believe that Sony went an entire console generation between numbered Gran Turismo releases, but here we are. Gran Turismo 6 came out on the PS3 just after the PS4 was released and represented the pinnacle of the series with over 1200 cars and 100 tracks.
Unfortunately, instead of just moving onto Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital continued its tradition of filling the space between the main GT games with a less than ideal release by launching Gran Turismo Sport. Fortunately, we're finally going to be getting Gran Turismo 7 in March, and we're eager to see if the series still has that spark. With ray tracing support, full 3D audio and genuinely immersive DualSense features, Gran Turismo 7 should be in every PS5 owner's collection. In a number of cases, games allow you to choose between prioritising presentation or performance, which often boils down to a choice between ray tracing or higher frame rates. It's worth pointing out, though, that 120fps gaming is only available if your TV supports 4K@120Hz signals, and very few currently do.
In fact, we're only aware of one model under 55 inches that Check out our list of thebest gaming TVsfor guidance. If you enjoyed the first game or open world action games in general you'll love this one. The enemies are unique, the combat is fun, the world is interesting, and it is without a doubt the best looking game ever released. I know some people have experienced odd bugs but I've only noticed some pop in here and there but it isn't a huge issue. If you are a PlayStation user, you've probably already heard about Forza Horizon 5.
It's one of the most popular racing games ever, and it's incredibly easy to learn how to play it. It's incredibly easy to get started with this game and begin playing right away. But before you can get started, you must learn how to play forza horizon on play station. When Bethesda isn't busy porting Skyrim to everyone's appliances, they actually make new games. The game studio's first foray in a while outside of their established franchises will be Starfield. When it was revealed that it's going to be an Xbox Series X console exclusive, everyone lost their collective wits.
If anything, Starfield could be Microsoft's ticket to the console wars in this early part of the console generation. Now, it's not like the PS4 didn't have a fair share of exclusive racing titles. I was one of the few people who enjoyed Driveclub – albeit a lot more for its dazzling rain effects than its gameplay – and I wanted to like Gran Turismo Sport.
Once you've spent time in that open world, be it the version of Australia in Horizon 3 and the UK in Horizon 4, the rigid structure of GT just doesn't cut it. And it's these crucial elements that work whether you're gaming on PlayStation 4, Pro, or their far more powerful successor. Of course, I'd recommend playing this on the new console - loading times are an order of magnitude faster, 3D audio and DualSense enhancements also work well.
However, curiously, similar to Forza Horizon 5, the choice between gaming at 30fps and 60fps may not be as straightforward as it sounds. While 60fps may seem like the obvious choice bearing in mind the 2160p vs 1800p checkerboard difference, it's actually the case that the graphical quality is far richer in the 30fps mode as a result of this clarity. Double the frame-rate is nice, but you're missing out on a decently-sized chunk of the next-gen (current-gen?) experience. Whichever way you choose to play, however, we highly recommend that you buy this game.
Forza Horizon 5 is now available to millions of players all over the world, and has quickly established itself as one of the best racing games you can play. The colossal and expertly engineered open-world racing title from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios is the latest in the Forza Horizon franchise, a series that has been a staple on Xbox consoles for years. With Forza Horizon 5 taking the series and the genre to all-new heights, however, some are wondering whether FH5 will ever come to PlayStation. The announcement that Insomniac Games would be producing Marvel's Wolverine was a huge surprise, especially since it shares the same universe as the studio's Marvel's Spider-Man series. However, given Insomniac's busy development schedule, we'd be surprised if it was released before 2024. Game Pass has only become a stronger value in the Xbox Series X generation.
Encouraged by the strong reviews of Forza Horizon 5, but don't want to spend $60 on it? The same will be true for Halo Infinite next month, and it's impossible to overstate how huge that is for Microsoft fans. Ghost was already one of the best examples of a last-gen title that's instantly improved by the PS5, and the Director's Cut is now the definitive version. As well as benefiting from the shorter loading times, the game runs at a perfect 4K/60fps, making one-on-one duels – already one of the game's strong points – even more epic to behold. Japanese lip-syncing – one of the most asked-for features from fans – has been added to the PS5 game, as well as some generous DualSense trickery and 3D audio support.
Forza Horizon 4 is an open-world racing video game developed by Playground Games and published by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and Windows PC platforms. There is no doubt that Forza Horizon 4 is one of the best racing games ever made. Of course, the advantage of the next-gen consoles' focus on backwards compatibility is that each has a huge library of existing games ready to be played. These libraries share many games, with most third-party developers producing titles for both Xbox and PlayStation, but there are, of course, games exclusive to each. The long and short of it is that both consoles provide native 4K gaming at frame rates that are often double those of their predecessors, and there's often extra graphical detail and polish, too.
You might be playing the same games as those people still using a PS4 or Xbox One, but there's no denying the generational upgrade in terms of presentation and performance. While Game Pass is incredible value for money, its library is also not permanent, with some of Microsoft's own first-party games, notably Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 7, being removed from the service. The main problem with the gaming platform is that playing with your friends on all types of consoles and platforms for Windows PC is easy. Also, a good marketing strategy to attract as many people as possible to your games.
This excludes games without release dates that may have been previously announced — like Elder Scrolls VI and the Fable reboot, for example — and any games that were released for either console in 2020, including launch titles. We've also chosen only to list release dates for games where the publisher has chosen a concrete date with both day and month. Probably the only other Xbox exclusive PlayStation fans envy apart from Halo, Forza Horizon 5 is set to release in the first week of November.
This time around, developer Playground Games will take gamers to the beautifully recreated world of Mexico. Horizon Forbidden West has been one of the most talked about games ever since it was released to raving reviews on February 18, 2022. Even the legendary film director John Carpenter said that he "cannot wait" to play the game. The latest development is that Horizon Forbidden West has gone on to become the second biggest PS5 launch in the history of the console. By pre-ordering the PS4 version — available by scrolling down to the pre-order boxes lower on the page — you'll be able to access the PS5 upgrade, per Ryan's promise last year.
As The Verge points out, the listing on Sony's website mentions that version working only on PS4, but a bullet point above the box implies that it works on the new console, too. This could mean that the PS4 version of the game will work on PS5 consoles in backward compatibility mode — i.e., not the PS5-upgraded and -optimized experience. Forza Horizon 5 is not available on PlayStation consoles, be it PS4 or PS5, and there's little-to-no chance that the epic racing adventure will ever come to Sony's gaming platform. The Forza franchise, both the simulation Motorsport and the open-world Horizon titles, have always been exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem, a fact that is highly unlikely to change anytime soon.
Is There A New Forza Horizon Coming Out Forza (Italian for « power ») is a racing video game series released exclusively for the range of Xbox consoles and Windows 10 PC's. … The game was released for Windows 10 and will also be released for mobile devices as well at a later date. The system's card feels like a revelation when playing games like Deathloop, but developers have been slow to fully adopt it. I'm not finding many games that use cards to give useful time estimates or ways to fast travel to objectives.
Sony's first-party games tend to use it well, but it still hasn't lived up to its potential. Other initially exciting features, like the ability to look up a guide video on the fly, have barely made a difference. For the most part, I haven't engaged with many of the PS5's nuanced features.
It's sensible, then, that there's also the promise of new features designed to satisfy the Gran Turismo heartlands, some of which might actually do a better job of converting people to the church of the automobile. After GT Sport, the return of a proper single-player campaign mode is hugely anticipated. The traditional Gran Turismo journey – beginning with scouring the classifieds for a cheap used car – creates a sense of connection to, and ownership of, each vehicle you collect that few games have been able to match. Nearly a decade after GT6, there will surely be plenty of people experiencing that magic for the first time with GT7.
This is great news for PC gamers because it means that they have the opportunity to play with their console buddies. This opens up the possibilities for racing games, as you can now play with your mates who are using different platforms. The main argument for cross-platform play is that playing with your friends across different consoles and Windows PC platforms is easy. Also, it's a great marketing strategy to have as many people playing your games as possible. This first batch of cross-platform games is also cross-generational.
Once fully optimised games become a reality, likely in the next year or two, perhaps we'll see performance gaps between the PS5 and Xbox Series X appear but, for now, there just aren't any of real significance. Of those next-gen graphical features, it's ray tracing that's most significant. This new technology massively improves lighting, shadows and reflections, and has the potential to transform almost everything you see on screen, making games look vastly more realistic. Alan Wen is a freelance journalist writing about video games in the form of features, interview, previews, reviews and op-eds. His work has appeared in print including Edge, Official Playstation Magazine, GamesMaster, Games TM, Wireframe, Stuff, and online including Kotaku UK, TechRadar, FANDOM, Rock Paper Shotgun, Digital Spy, The Guardian, and The Telegraph. Its Tempest 3D audio engine also enables spatial surround sound technology, which now works on TV speakers rather than just through headphones.
These features are leveraged especially effectively with Sony's own first-party titles, including Astro's Playroom, which is pre-installed on every PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon 4 is a Great Britain based open space racing video game, with regions spanning overviews of Edinburgh, Scottish Highlands, Lake District , Ambleside and Cotswolds , Bamburgh, between others. The game features a course builder that allows players to create races using fully custom courses. The game takes place in a shared synchronized world, compared to the AI-based "drivatars" of its predecessors, and each server supports up to 72 players. Forza Horizon 4 is a 2018 racing video game developed by Playground Games and published by Microsoft Studios. Released on October 2, 2018 on Xbox One and Microsoft Windows following the announcement of the Xbox E conference.
An enhanced version of the game was released on Xbox Series X / S on November 10, 2020. It is the fourth issue of Forza Horizon and the eleventh installment in the Forza series. The game is known for introducing seasonal changes to the series and installing some updates that expand the content to new game modes. Horizon Forbidden West is everything you could hope for in a sequel.
Not only does it provide more content to sink your teeth into, but it makes smart design decisions that refine its systems to be near faultless. Aloy's personal story continues to evolve, this time with an even stronger supporting cast and memorable antagonists propelling her journey to another level. Above all, its moment-to-moment gameplay expertly combines the fun traversal, exciting combat, and creative problem-solving to awesome effect, meaning it always feels excellent to play. Horizon Forbidden West is one of the best open-world adventures available today and is a stellar experience from its strong introduction all the way to its dramatic conclusion, and beyond.
This changes the calculus a bit with regard to buying a new console. No longer do you have to abandon what you were playing on your old device and start anew. Sony also introduced the PlayStation Plus Collection, a library of PS4 games available for free with its online subscription service. Just over two months after their release, the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S continue to be some of the most desirable gadgets in the world. While it's still very difficult to get your hands on a new console, those lucky enough to own one can enjoy something unprecedented in modern gaming history. For the first time, next-gen console owners can take their existing library — whether it's physical, digital, or a mix of the two — and bring it to a next-gen platform.
On paper, this sounds like outright butchery but in actual gameplay, what we're actually seeing is a carefully curated equivalent to 'PC low settings' up against an all-out ultra-class experience on PlayStation 5. As a sequel then, the improvements are palpable for users of PS4 and Pro - it's just that PS5 delivers that generational leap on top. From the original PlayStation onwards, Gran Turismo has been an exclusive staple game for Sony's consoles.
It's always marked a high point in graphics and simulation mechanics, appealing to racing game fans who wanted to see realism front and center, rather than simply bombing it around circuits or roads. Now Gran Turismo 7 looks set to continue that trend for the PS5 era. Bringing you the latest news, reviews, updates, opinions, and insight from the most recognized and respected names from the world of racing games. We are building a positive community of likeminded gamers, sim racers and fans and we want you to be a part of it.
